Who Are We?
A FAMILY OF BELIEVERS TRYING TO LOVE GOD, ONE ANOTHER, AND OURSELVES.
OUR VISION (the what): Center Cross continues to be a place where people unite with God, family, and community
OUR MISSION (the how): WE LOVE UP | LOVE OUT | LOVE IN. Simply put, this means that in all things we are going to love up (God) first. Everything we do as a community will honor God. Second, we are going to love our neighbors. The community that we have been placed in needs a source of hope. Christ is our source and our desire is to be a beacon of love and hope to our surrounding area. Third, we love in. That means that we invest in ourselves and our church. We know that that there is no arriving as the perfect Christian this side of heaven so we continue to work on ourselves through classes, discipline, and spiritual experiences.
Our Leadership and Staff
Jake & Brittany Affeldt
Pastor Jake was born in Atlanta Georgia but called Charlottesville Virginia home for the majority of his life. He considers his marriage to Britt in 2013 the greatest triumph of his life. Prior to moving to Center Cross, he served as a lead pastor in Michigan and as the youth pastor in Virginia. He is a licensed bishop with the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) and has a Masters degree with a focus on leadership and ministry. When not in the office he is usually found in his wood shop or spending time with his family.
Britt was born and raised in Atlanta Georgia. She attended Lee University and graduated in 2010 with a BA in History. She loves her puppy Marvel, anything crafty, and (in true southern form) sweet tea!
Pastor Jake and Brittany are expecting their first child, a girl, in July 2020 and cannot contain their excitment.
In 2019 our pastoral team felt God calling them into a new season of ministry. Through prayer, fasting, and divine appointment, they fell in love and began serving with the community at Center Cross Church of God.
What We Believe?
In the verbal inspiration of the Bible.
In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.
That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.
Holiness to be God's standard of living for His people.
In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.
In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.
In the Lord's Supper and washing of the saints' feet.
In the pre-millennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.
In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.
